Hồng-Ân Trương is an artist who uses photography, video, and sound to examine histories of war as well as immigrant, refugee, and decolonial narratives and subjectivities. Her work was included in the New Orleans triennial Prospect.4: The Lotus in Spite of the Swamp in 2017-2018, and her collaborative work with her frequent co-conspirator, Hương Ngô, was included in MoMA’s New Photography exhibition, Being: New Photography 2018. Other exhibitions include the MCA Chicago, the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Socrates Sculpture Park in NY, and the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. Her writing has been published in the Brooklyn Rail and SHIFTER Magazine, and is included the recent anthology by Paper Monument, Best! Letters from Asian Americans in the Arts. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in Fine Art in 2019 and was the Capp St. Project Artist-in-Residence at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts in 2020, through which she developed her web-based project We Listen Nearby. Hồng-Ân lives in Durham, North Carolina where she is an activist and a teacher. She is a Professor of Art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
