Winner of the Pulitzer Prize

Daunts Bookstore | Viet Thanh Nguyen in conversation with Natasha Walter

Viet Thanh Nguyen is the Pulitzer Prize -winning author of The Sympathiser, which has now sold over a million copies worldwide. We are so lucky to be joined by him this March to discuss his latest book, a highly original and unconventional memoir that sees Nguyen rewind the film of his own life.

With insight, humour, formal invention, and lyricism, A Man of Two Faces expands the possibilities of personal memoir by also including larger stories of refugeehood, colonization, and ideas about Vietnam and America. Remarkable here is Nguyen’s wit and deep emotional openness about his life as a father and a son.

A Man of Two Faces explores the necessity of both forgetting and of memory, the promises America so readily makes and breaks, and the exceptional life story of one of the most original and important writers working today.

Natasha Walter joins Nguyen in conversation. Walter is an author and human rights activist. She is the author of Before the Light Fades and Living Dolls.
